History

Founded in 1926

Founded  in 1926, the same year as the Stockton Symphony, the Stockton Garden Club is one of the first such clubs to be established in California. Formed by a small group of women seeking to share gardening knowledge and volunteer in the community, our club once reached over 500 members, hosted thousands of guests at large Flower Show events at the Stockton Civic Auditorium.  Members were proactive in local ecological decisions, and in helping local community organizations with gardening focused activities,  a few of which include the Children's Home of Stockton, Micke Grove, Miracle Mile, State Hospital, Chamber of Commerce,  Pixie Woods, Victory Park, San Joaquin County Jail Facility, United Crusade, and Gospel Center Rescue Mission.
