Sunshine Trail, Micke Grove Historical Museum
Renovation of Sunshine Trail
Our Club donated $5,000 towards the restoration and renovation of San Joaquin County Historical Museum Sunshine Trail located in Micke Grove Regional Park. The Sunshine Trail is part of Valley Days teaching & allowing students to experience & understand life in the 1800's. During the day, students participate in chores such as butter making, rope making, blacksmithing and crafts, and walk the Sunshine Trail, lined with native plants, ancient trees and a waterfall under an old covered bridge.
Restoration of this path includes replanting native plants to replicate those grown in our Central Valley in the 1800's. We believe this path is not only important to showcase what was supplied by nature that supported California Indians, but for the continuation of a natural ecological environment important to our future, supporting wildlife, insects and birds.
